Editor's Note
The bathhouse, which has not survived in its entirety, is known as the Rustem Pasha Bathhouse. There is information that it was commissioned by Rustem Pasha and built by the architect Mimar Sinan. The construction date of the Rustem Pasha Bathhouse is not known from the sources. However, if it is assumed to have been built after Rustem Pasha married Mihrimah Sultan in 1539, it may be interpreted as having been built between 1544 and 1561. The fact that the bathhouse displays the characteristics of 16th-century (Ottoman classical period) bath architecture supports this view.
