Editor's Note
This modernist building, the work of French architect Theo Leveau, began construction in 1936 and was completed in 1938. With a facade that emphasised a transatlantic aesthetic, it was one of the most advanced architectural examples of its era. In later years it was abandoned and was demolished in 2015.
