Editor's Note
Built in 1908 as an Agricultural School during the governorship of Ali Münif Bey, the building was used by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk as his headquarters between 27 December 1919 and 23 April 1920 during the years of the National Struggle. Taking on the role of the General Staff headquarters, the rooms on the upper floor of the building were allotted to Mustafa Kemal and members of the Representative Committee, to the Anatolian Agency headed by Halide Edip, and to various offices. Some of the rooms also housed İsmet İnönü, Kazım Karabekir, Rauf Orbay and Mazhar Müfit Kansu. Today the building serves as the General Directorate of Meteorology.
