Editor's Note
Built between 1933 and 1934 to a design by Seyfi Arkan, it replaced the old Foreign Ministry Mansion in Çankaya. With the wide eaves of old Ankara houses combined with a Modern Architecture and Bauhaus sensibility, this original building was the first on which a Turkish architect found the opportunity to work on an entire structure. Thought to have been considerably altered over the years, the building is believed to be the same one as today's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Residence.
