Editor's Note
As the Hacettepe University Central (Sıhhiye) Campus was being built, various structures in the area were expropriated starting in the 1960s. The Mukaddem Neighbourhood was entirely cleared in the 1970s, and by a 1973 decision of the Monuments Board the mosque was ordered to be demolished. During the redevelopment of the area, an underpass was built at the intersection of Talatpaşa Boulevard and Ahmet Adnan Saygun Avenue.
