Built in 1964, the arcade contains ceramic panels and abstract murals by leading artists of the period such as Füreya Koral, Attila Galatalı, Cevdet Altuğ, Arif Kaptan, Nuri İyem, Adnan Turani and Seniye Fenmen, within the spirit of uniting architecture and art. One ceramic panel by Cevdet Altuğ covers a vast area stretching from the arcade's ceiling down to its floor. An escalator was later built in front of this ceramic panel.
