Editor's Note
Little is known about the building remains on Namazgah Hill. İsmail Hakkı Uzunçarşılı mentions that the Seljuk Sultan İzzeddin Keykavus I (reigned 1211–1220) had a fine madrasa built here (Uzunçarşılı, Vol. I, p. 25). In giving information about Seljuk-era Ankara, Avram Galanti relates that "when Keykavus laid siege to Ankara, he had a building erected outside the city, stating that if the city were taken he would turn it into a madrasa, and that if it were not taken he would use the building as a palace." When the city fell, Keykavus kept his word.
