Roman-period inscriptions from Ankara indicate that a city wall was built in the year 270 (Foss, 1977) to defend the city against the Parthian and Gothic incursions seen in the third century (Figure 6). In the 1980s, part of this wall was uncovered during the foundation excavations for the multi-storey car park building on Rüzgârlı Sokak in Ulus (Kadıoğlu and Görkay, 2007). Archaeological finds show that the wall was built from blocks belonging to the great buildings of the period. In 1999, another section of the wall was found during the construction excavations of the Rüzgârlı Business Centre and Car Park on Fuat Börekçi Avenue.
