Editor's Note
The building was completed in three stages. Between 1937 and 1938 the present A and C Blocks were built, and Block B was later added in keeping with the original design. The gymnasium that the original project placed adjoining the north side of Block B was never built; instead, a different project was carried out following a 1966 decision by the Directorate of Public Works. The building was placed on the western side of a large, 30,000-square-metre plot running east to west, and is made up of asymmetrical masses with differing architectural features.
