It was built in 1912 as a primary and middle school for boys by a merchant named İstavri Yogi, who was born in Tekfurdağı and lived in Egypt. Opened by the Metropolitan, the school was named Yorgiatum after Yorgiadis. It served as a Greek primary and middle school until 1920 and was temporarily used as a hospital during World War I.
