It is a fortress set on a hilltop commanding the entire valley. From its position it overlooks the villages of Beyoğlu and Ormanlı to the north, Kartaltepe/Bakacaktepe (Hieron Oros) to the east, the Şarköy ridges to the south, and the villages of Palamut, Bulgur, Esendik and Sağlamtaş and the Malkara area to the west. Only the scattered stone foundations of the ramparts that evidently encircled the hill can be seen in places, especially on the southern and western sides. Rectangular-plan towers appear to have stood at the corners, and in-situ stones from the corner of the eastern tower can still be traced.
