Editor's Note
This site is located at the Asartepe locality within the boundaries of Süleymaniye village in the Gelibolu district of Çanakkale province. Standing at a point commanding the surrounding terrain, the castle is thought to have been built during the Byzantine period to guard the route of the road. It was registered as a First-Degree Archaeological Conservation Area by decision no. 569, dated 25 September 2012, of the Edirne Regional Directorate for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage.
