The site lies at the Ortatas Hill (Asar Hill) location in Koyuntepe village, a hill commanding its surroundings. At the foot of the rocky outcrop at the summit, ceramic fragments dated from the Chalcolithic period to the end of the Hellenistic period have been identified. In addition, a 6.5 cm bronze Apollo figurine dated to the Hellenistic period was found at this site in 2001. In earlier years, the activity zone of the quarry set up to supply material to the Hamzadere Dam was restricted so the site would not be harmed, and the area was renewed as a protected zone.
