Editor's Note
Work on the building was carried out between 1982-85 and 2000-3. In the excavation conducted in the garden across from today's district governor's residence, it was found 1.60 m below the ground surface. Part of the villa's central courtyard, along with a hall, kitchen, and bath, were brought to light. The mosaic floor over the partially uncovered central courtyard is 6 m long and 1.85 m wide.
