Editor's Note
The building described by Semavi Eyice as a church in the Yeni neighborhood north of the castle was, at the time of his visit in 1961, already nearly destroyed in recent years under the pretext of treasure hunting, so that even in 1961 its plan could only be made out with difficulty. It was a four-columned structure with a Greek-cross plan, with remains of frescoes on the wall to the left. Among the ruins, fragments of capitals, bases, and other worked marble pieces could be seen. [1] As it could not be determined whether the building survives today, the area north of Enez Castle has been marked approximately, based on Semavi Eyice's description.
