Editor's Note
Suleyman Celebi, a mystic and poet who was the son of Ahmet Pasha, the famous vizier of the reign of Murad I (1362-1389), and the grandson of Sheikh Mahmut, died in 1422. During the reign of Sultan Bayezid the Thunderbolt, Suleyman Celebi served as imam of the Imperial Council (Divan-i Humayun) and later as imam of the Ulu Mosque that the sultan had built in Bursa. The author of the Turkish world's most renowned Mevlid, Suleyman Celebi completed this famous work, which he titled "Vesiletu'n-Necat" (The Path to Salvation), in Bursa in 1409.
