Editor's Note
The bath in the Hisar district, east of the entrance to the State Hospital, dates to the last quarter of the 15th century. It was built by Grand Vizier İbrahim Paşa, son of Grand Vizier Çandarlı Halil Paşa, to provide income for his first wife, Hatice Hatun. It is set on an area of 225 square metres. It is entered from the west through a door with a marble frame. The dome of the cooling room (soğukluk) has collapsed. In the warm room (ılıklık) there are two half-domes with stalactites and, in the middle, again a large dome with stalactites. From here one passes into two polygonal-plan private rooms (halvet). The one on the left is covered by a dome resting on an octagonal drum, while the one on the right has a stalactite dome.
