Editor's Note
The bath in the Bit Pazarı (Flea Market) was built in 1485 by Davud Paşa, grand vizier of Sultan Bayezid II. It is a single bath. The cooling room (soğukluk) has an octagonal plan and is covered by a dome. The transition from the main walls to the dome is achieved on the inside by a band of triangular faceting, while on the outside it rests on a two-tiered drum. The warm room (ılıklık) is reached by a stair. It consists of a domed space in the middle resting on two walls, together with three adjoining domed spaces. These spaces served as the shaving room and the lavatory. From the middle of the warm room a passage leads to the octagonal hot room (sıcaklık).
