Editor's Note
Born in Istanbul in 1828, Ahmed Münir Paşa died in Bursa in 1897 and was buried in the Emir Sultan Cemetery. Between 1891 and 1896 he served as governor of the Hüdavendigâr province, which included Bursa. Carrying out many public works in Bursa during his governorship, Ahmed Münir Paşa also valued water culture and had three fountains built around the Ulu Cami (Grand Mosque). This one stands on the north side of the Ulu Cami, opposite its north gate, between two ablution fountains. It was built in 1895 by Governor Ahmed Münir Paşa.
