Editor's Note
It forms the westernmost section, at the western end of the double wall that runs westward from the Yerkapı plain, where defence was difficult, along the line of Bursa's city walls. Reached by a road cut through the rocks along the Cilimboz Stream, it served as an intermediate gate opening onto the foothills of Uludağ. It is known that this gate was once used by villagers coming to and from the market. Its existence is attested in the Hellenistic period (2nd century BC), the Byzantine period (9th century), and the Ottoman period (14th century). In Ottoman historical documents its name appears as 'Bâb-ı Siccin'.
