In 1339, Orhan Gazi (1281-1360), aiming to expand the city eastward, had this madrasa - which also included a zaviye (dervish lodge) and a guesthouse - built in the area between the Orhan Mosque and the Municipality Building (because insufficient information about the structure exists, there are conflicting records as to whether it stood in the direction surrounding these two buildings). The structure, which has not survived to the present day, is known to have existed until the early 20th century. (Source: 16th-Century Bursa Madrasas - Mefail Hızlı, p. 34)
