During excavations carried out as part of the ongoing Hisar Archaeopark Project in the Hisar district where Bursa was first founded, a Mithras Mosaic believed to date to the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD was discovered. The Roman-era mosaic depicts the sun's passage through the twelve great constellations over the course of a year.
