Editor's Note
It was built in AH 871 / AD 1466 by Bakkal (Grocer) Hacı Sinan. Prospective pilgrims in Bursa who for various reasons could not go on the Hajj built the Hacılar (Pilgrims') Mosque with the money they had set aside. It is said this is why it is called the Hacılar Mosque. The mosque, whose main prayer hall is square in plan, generally sits on a rectangular area together with its three-section porch. The front piers of the porch are built with two rows of brick and one row of rubble stone, with cut stone above the arches. The joints feature bands with a bird's-beak motif and a star-within-a-square design.
