Editor's Note
This is the older of two historic fountains in the garden of the Bursa Girls' High School. According to the inscription on them, it dates to AH 1323 (AD 1905-1906). The fountain was built of marble and tile, and has been repaired and restored from time to time over the years. The fountain's marble inscription reads, in floral Kufic script, "We made every living thing from water" (Surah al-Anbiya, verse 30).
