Another monastery located near the Agorlar is the Trikhalis Monastery. Trikhalis made its name not only as the nearest monastery to the Agorlar but also to Bursa itself, and as the home of Saint Ioannikios. In the Islamic period, when Abdal Murad founded his lodge here, the Trikhalis Monastery continued to serve as an important pilgrimage site of the region under the Ottomans, just as it had under Byzantium. Raymond Janin attempted to determine the location of the Trikhalis Monastery based on hagiographic sources (vitae).
