Editor's Note
As stated in the inscriptions on the gravestones in its garden, the mosque was built in 1439 by two merchant brothers, Hoca b. Ömer and Hoca Ahmet, son of Hoca Ali. Built on a square plan, the mosque's main prayer hall is covered by a large dome. It was restored in 1955 in keeping with its original form. The mosque, which has survived to the present day in its authentic state, features wall inscriptions, hand-drawn decorations, oil-painted window arches, and dome ornaments. It is lit by eighteen windows. A historic fountain stands adjoining its outer door.
