Editor's Note
It was built in 1407 by Başçı Hacı Sevindik during the reign of Bayezid I (Yıldırım). Başçı Hacı Sevindik built the mosque in honour of Şeyh Hamid-i Veli (Somuncu Baba) of Aksaray, the spiritual guide of Hacı Bayram Veli. It is also known as the "Şeyh Hamid Mosque" or the "Ayazma Mosque." The rectangular-planned mosque has a portico (last congregation area) at its entrance. The main prayer hall of the mosque is square in plan. At the mosque entrance there is a not-too-high gable wall, frequently seen in Bursa's mosques. There is a small cemetery (hazire) adjoining the east wall of the mosque. Within the cemetery there are several gravestones.
