Editor's Note
The inscription above the entrance of the mosque states that it was built in 1479 by Yahya, son of Yahya Hüseyin and nicknamed Düsturhan, during the reign of Mehmed the Conqueror (1451-1481). Because the water coming to Bursa used to be distributed here, the neighbourhood was called "Maksem," derived from the phrase "water distribution point," and this name was also given to the mosque. The mosque is also known by the nickname of its patron, "Düsturhan." The rectangular-planned mosque has a portico (last congregation area) at its entrance. The building was restored in 1955 by the Society of Lovers of Bursa's Antiquities.
