The school was inaugurated on 15 April 1888 in a building in the Şehreküstü neighbourhood that was rented from Ahmet Gazzaz Efendi. By 1922, a total of 2,032 people had received sericulture diplomas from the silk school, and Armenians and Greeks made up 73% of the graduating students from Bursa. The school was closed in 1926 and reopened in 1930. After the school moved to its new buildings in 1976, the building began to be used as a student dormitory. Today the building belongs to the Anatolian İmam Hatip High School.
