Editor's Note
This is the tomb of Çoban Bey, the son of Osman Gazi, founder of the Ottoman State. The tomb of Çoban Bey, one of the ghazis who took part in the conquest of Bursa, is known to have been built in the early 14th century. In the Ottoman period, Çoban Bey owned the lands of Setbaşı, Molla Arap, Yeşil, and the east bank of the Gökdere up to the Irgandı Bridge. He had his own tomb built in the district where Balabancık Castle stood, now known by his name, and endowed the surrounding lands to it.
