Kelkit Ulu Cami

The mosque stands in the Büyükcami Quarter in the centre of Kelkit district. It was raised in masonry construction, with rubble stone in the body walls and dressed stone at the corners and around the door and window frames. According to written sources, the mosque was built in 1915 and at one time was used as a military depot. Its minaret, at the northwest corner, has a single balcony. The four-sided hipped roof is covered with alaturka tiles. The window and door frames are surrounded by arched dressed stone. The mihrab niche is of stone with plain ornamentation.
