The inscription above the entrance gives only the patron's name. The building's patron was the Seljuk emir Arslantoğmuş, father of Bedreddin Ebu Mansur Şehin Şah, who was the patron of the Niksar Hacı Çıkrık Medrese dated AH 578 (1182 AD). This means the Kulak Tomb must belong to the 12th century. The structure, octagonal in plan both inside and out, was originally covered by a dome.
