Niksar, historically known as Neocaesarea, is a city and district seat in Tokat Province. It was settled by many empires over its history and is known as the 'Çukurova of North Anatolia' for its production of many kinds of fruits and vegetables. On 2 May 2018 it was included in the World Heritage tentative list.
