Located in the Çekenli neighborhood, the Hamza Bey Mosque was built in 1412 by Bicaroğlu Hamza Bey, one of the commanders of Çelebi Sultan Mehmed. Although it lost its originality in later repairs, it was built in the early Ottoman zaviye-type mosque form. To the northwest stands a minaret with a square base and cylindrical shaft, built entirely separate from the mosque. It suffered a fire in the 19th century and was restored in the 20th. Today it is open for worship.
