Editor's Note
The Horozoğlu Zaviye, also known as the Pir Ahmed İmaret, was built in the early 15th century by Pir Ahmed Bey during the reign of Sultan Çelebi Mehmed. Lacking an inscription, the building served both as a Sufi lodge (zaviye) and as a social welfare structure (imaret, a soup kitchen). The T-plan building has a domed center, a barrel-vaulted iwan to the south, and two domed rooms each to its east and west. Built of rubble stone, ashlar and brick, it is one of the distinctive examples of early Ottoman architecture.
