Editor's Note
The castle stands on a commanding hill from which two valleys can be seen at once, but there is no inscription or period source providing information about its date of construction or its builder. Only a very small part of the fortification walls survives today. The surviving wall remains are of rubble masonry, with the stones bonded together using horasan mortar. The most important feature within the castle is the cistern. The cistern inside the walls is reached by a steep staircase of 50 steps. The tunnel in which the staircase lies is about two and a half metres wide. The interior of the cistern is today [filled with] stone and the like.
