Editor's Note
It is one of four mosques located in the historical and archaeological conservation area at the site known as Old Bilecik, abandoned because it was badly damaged during the Greek occupation of 1921-1922, or called Yaniklar ("the burnt ones") because it was devastated during the occupation. Popularly known as the "Five Minarets Without a Mosque," the site has become a symbol of the city; of this mosque only ruins of the main hall remain, along with its half-collapsed minaret. The fifth minaret belongs to the Orhan Gazi Mosque and was built 30 meters away from the main building so the call to prayer could be heard by the people.
