Editor's Note
Built in 1884 from interlocking timber (the cantilever log technique - E.M.), the Elmali Wooden Mosque stands in the Elmali neighborhood at the foot of the Samanli Mountains, 55 kilometers from the center of Iznik. Migrants who came from Batum in 1871 had the mosque built in 1884 by special woodworking masters brought from Trabzon. It was restored in 2014 by the Bursa Governorate's Investment Monitoring and Coordination Board. [1] —– 1 Iznik District Governorate - The Nail-less Mosque.
