Editor's Note
In the center of Iznik district, across from the Nilufer Hatun Soup Kitchen, there is a mosque with an adjoining tomb. The tomb holds the grave of Mehmet Muhittin, whose father was the famous Sheikh Kutbuddin of Iznik; nothing is known of his own place or date of birth. The square-plan, pendentive-domed tomb has its entrance in the east wall, south of the axis. There is a window on the axis of the north, south, and west walls, and one south of the axis on the east wall. Inside, two rectangular niches sit symmetrically with the south window. The dome covering the tomb rises on a blind twelve-sided drum and is roofed with tiles.
