The famous Candarli Halil Pasha, eldest son of Candarli Ibrahim Pasha and grand vizier during the reigns of Murad II and Mehmed the Conqueror, was executed after the conquest of Istanbul and buried beside his sons who had died before him. Candarli Halil Pasha served as grand vizier of the Ottoman state for 14 years, from 1439 to 1453, and was the first grand vizier in Ottoman history to be executed.
