According to official records, this mosque was built in 1900 by Ethem Pasha, one of the wealthiest and most influential men of Yenisehir. An official opening ceremony was also held on 31 August 1901, the 25th anniversary of Sultan Abdulhamid II's reign. Seriously damaged in the 1999 earthquake, the building was left closed and to its fate for fifteen years before being restored by the Directorate of Foundations and reopened for worship in 2015.
