Editor's Note
Alaaddin Keykubat, ruler of the Anatolian Seljuk State, who continued the campaigns begun before him to make Anatolia an Islamic Turkish land, stopped at the village of Taslica along his route on his way to conquer the Byzantine fortress of Baskoy. Living there were Kirmizi Ebe, a woman among the holy folk who had come and settled years earlier, and her son Oruc. Kirmizi Ebe welcomed the Turkish soldiers and wished to offer them ayran. She poured the fresh ayran she had just churned into the stone trough there. All the soldiers then lined up both to drink the ayran and to fill their vessels.
