Editor's Note
This is an Eastern Roman rock chapel carved into the rock, datable to the 9th-12th centuries, within farmland in Harmanköy village in the İnhisar district of Bilecik province. It is a chapel hewn into a fairly soft, easily worked mass of bedrock. The top of the rock mass is covered with earth and used as farmland. Popularly known as a former medrese site, the chapel's entrance area has partly collapsed. On the short wall of this space, niches and arches carved into the bedrock can be seen. Ravaged by treasure hunters and now almost entirely gone, the fresco is impossible to make out.
