Part of the Istanbul-Baghdad Railway Project that began in 1888 during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II, the Alifuatpaşa Station Building was started in 1889 and completed in 1890. This station, in a town that served as headquarters for Western Front Commander Ali Fuat Cebesoy throughout the War of Independence, retained its strategic importance for the duration of the war.
