Editor's Note
The building, located in the center of the Geyve district of Sakarya province, has no construction inscription or endowment deed. Based on 18th-century archival records, its founder is accepted to be Sinan Bey. The celî sülüs gravestone of Sinan Bey, in the building's burial ground, records that he died in mid-Şaban of the year 883 (November 1478), indicating that the building was constructed before this date. Its architectural features support this, as do the dates on the gravestones in the burial ground. Although locals more often refer to the building by the name of Elvan Bey, this is incorrect.
