Our land-based surface surveys around Kapanca Harbour reveal the existence of an ancient settlement here. As a result of investigations carried out both on the surface and underwater, many pottery fragments were identified. According to these fragments, the settlement at Kapanca Harbour was used continuously from the 3rd century AD to the end of the Ottoman period. These surveys also gave us information about the extent of the city.
