Editor's Note
The first sheikh of the Tekke Mosque, which dates to roughly 1700-1750, was Nizamettin Efendi. After Nizamettin Efendi emigrated to Uskudar, one of his three sons, Sheikh Hamit Efendi, took over as sheikh of the lodge (d. 1759). Between 1877 and 1912, Sheikh Ali Riza El-Bezzaz Efendi rendered great services to the lodge. The building was damaged in two major fires that broke out in 1885 and 1916.
