Editor's Note
The amphitheater lies northwest of, and outside, the city wall on the north side, in the bed of the stream once known as Kleite that flows between the villages of Belkis and Hamamli. Locally called the "Kaleler (Castles) site," this structure has been destroyed apart from a few piers belonging to some of its vaults. Because the amphitheater was built into a steep stream bed, the eastern and western sections of its seating rows rest directly on the earth.
