The Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, located in the village of Kocagol in the Manyas district of Balikesir province, was consecrated in 1881 by the Archimandrite Pavel. The church was used as a school in the 20th century. The surviving wall remains indicate that it originally had a single nave and an iconostasis. The apse is rounded on the inside and five-sided on the outside. The building bears no decorative elements and is today in very poor condition. Don Cossacks who emigrated from Russia in the late 18th century were settled in Kocagol village and lived there for many years.
