Editor's Note
It stands in the Hocahamza neighborhood of the Gelibolu district of Canakkale province. Adjoining the building known as the Cinaralti Tea Garden within the Martyr Staff Sergeant Ozcan Bal Barracks, the fountain has a rectangular plan, three faces, and is built of cut stone. On its west face is a marble construction inscription, above which a recently added brass plaque gives its transcription in the Latin alphabet. The inscription reveals that the fountain was commissioned by a man named Davut who lived in AH 928 (1522 CE) during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent, and that its calligrapher was Ibni Mueyyed.
